Its collection includes over 25,000 artifacts — icons, mosaics, sculptures, manuscripts, ceramics, metalwork and more — spanning from the 3rd century to the 20th century AD. The exhibits illustrate the development of Byzantine civilization and its influence on later culture. The museum is housed in the historic Villa Ilissia, a fine 19th-century building in central Athens.

Byzantine Monastery of Daphni

The Monastery of Daphni (officially Moni Koimiseos tis Theotokou — Dormition of the Virgin Mary) is a Byzantine monastery near Athens, built on the site of an ancient sanctuary of Apollo Daphnaios. It dates mainly to the 11th–12th centuries and is celebrated as one of the finest examples of Middle Byzantine architecture and mosaic art.

Monastery of Kaisariani

The Monastery of Kaisariani is an Eastern Orthodox monastery founded in the late 11th–early 12th century, dedicated to the Presentation of the Virgin Mary. It stands in a verdant valley on the western side of Mt. Hymettus, offering a peaceful contrast to the urban center of Athens.
