Nemea, Sparta, Mystra, Mani, Areopoli, Gytheio And Monemvasia

DAY 1

Departure for the strategic Corinth Canal for a quick photo stop. Then we continue our journey to the Nemea region. There we will visit the mythical wine-producing region. Here we visit the Stadium, the archaeological site and the museum of Nemea. Then we visit the winery to taste the local wines. We continue our journey to the inimitable city of Ancient Sparta, the city of the great King Leonidas. The magnificent castle of Mystras (UNESCO World Heritage Site), where from the top of the hill we will descend the narrow corridors and narrow streets of this amazing castle city and visit the Byzantine churches, the palace of Palaiologos, the last dynasty of Byzantine emperors.
Then we will visit the city of Sparta, the Evrotas River, the Leonidas Statue and the Olive Oil Museum. A wonderful lunch at a local tavern in the city of Sparta. There we will have free time and we will spend the first night in the city.

DAY 2

After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for Mani, a region known for its tower houses, stone settlements, Byzantine churches, small coves, and impressive caves. Mani, a closed society with a strong sense of autonomy, has been shaped by centuries of bloodline-based organization. Perched on the steep slopes of southern Taygetos, it was always ready for battle. We continue to Areopolis, nestled at the foot of the Sayas Mountains on the west coast of the Mani peninsula. Often called “the stony heart of Mani,” the area is filled with scenic spots—wild coves, serene beaches, caves, and historical monuments—all within close reach. After a traditional dinner in Areopolis, we head to Gytheio, a charming seaside town with a rich history, stunning beaches, and a unique cultural heritage. We end the day at a hotel in the Monemvasia area.

DAY 3

On the 3rd day, after breakfast at the hotel, we will return to Monemvasia, founded by the Byzantines in the sixth century, is a magnificent medieval tower city located on the southeastern coast of the Peloponnese. Take the opportunity to explore this mystical stone-built settlement, nestled on the edge of a large rock by the sea, and immerse yourself in a unique medieval atmosphere! We will have time to enjoy some dinner and visit a beautiful beach before departing for our return to Athens.
